Secrets of Los Angeles |
|
The disappearing bike routes |
One unsolved mystery, which might keep one's mind
busy, has to do with all those "Bike Route" signs
spread around the city and which has no regards to their
soroundings. While passing these "Bike Route" signs bikers
should be careful not to take the signs literally.....
Meaning, there aren't really any bike routes over
there!
So here is a little advice: While,at first, one
might feel very much relieved to see these signs (especially
after an acrobatic ride between the LA cars and the side
walks). it is advisory to carefully get off the bikes and look
for the promised bike route, before running into a parking
car.

The hidden oil wells |
It is a well known secret there are
lots of oil wells around LA. But those that are located in
the urban areas are well covered, by fake buildings or fancy
looking fences.

fact an oil well |

The lost train tracks |
 Train tracks going nowhere (Culver
City)
Once upon a time LA people used a
network of railroads and electric streetcars as means of
travel. then came the times when the trains had to yield and
give right of way to crossing traffic! The railroads were
paved over during the 50's. They are gone now. They slowly
vanished from life in LA as we know it.... But all over the
city, there are remainings of those railroads. For some reason
pieces of those train tracks were left all over the city and
they are definitely going nowhere...
 Part of the old train
tracks (Santa Monica Blvd.)
The tracks which can be found around Los Angeles are
part of the Balloon Route (established in 1901 by the Pacific
Electric Railway) and they go from downtown through Hollywood,
Santa Monica, Venice Beach, Redondo Beach and back to LA via
Culver City.
