John O'Groats, 10516 West Pico Blvd.
great place to meet and eat. Great Family owned Breakfast, lunch and Dinner spot. Casual and Trendy. Most important, the best food in LA. You are always made to feel welcome and part of the family. The son, Paul is now running it and it's growing daily because of the reputation of the food and service. It has always had a family kitchen feel and now it has the family dining room too. Apple Pan, 10801 W Pico Blvd.
Been around since 1947 Best Hickory burgers and pie in the city. Check it out! this place has not changed since 1947. They redo the decor but it's always the same, inviting and warm. Nice place to feel like a community family. People that move away still come back whenever they are in town, including me. I went there as a child in the 40's and now my children and their children have enjoyed the same warm cozy friendly Apple Pan.

Red Rock, 8782 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywod
Hard drinking, shameless scamming and loud music--the Sunset Strip has traditions to uphold and Red Rock is not about to let any of them go uncelebrated. Outside, there's a patio that's popular with the sweet young things and smokers. Inside, an open-beam space is prime for partying. There with your buds? Throw some darts in the back. Come with the gal pals? Sing out loud to the '80s tunes. Then get a shot of liquid courage from either of the two bars and go make some new friends.

Pink's hot dogs, 709 N La Brea Ave
Pink's is probably the most famous hot dog stand in the country... certainly in Los Angeles! Located near the corner of Melrose and La Brea, Pink's can be found by looking for a crowd of people and following the aroma of fresh meaty chili and soft hot dog buns.

Ajisai Japanese Restaurant, 809 N. Palm Ave., W. Hollywood
Ajisai is a good neighborhood sushi bar in West Hollywood. Shoei, who serves you from behind the bar, is also the owner. His wife is your hostess. Maybe the family scale is what gives Ajisai its sense of relaxed welcome. Shoei can be found wrapping and rolling every night except Mondays. As a good sushi chef, he is available not only to prepare your dish but to chat with you (or not) if you like. House specialties are named after the American presidents. You can order the Bush, the Clinton, or the Nixon if it suits your fancy and politics. Shoei has been here about a dozen years and says he plans to stay. So when you're hungry on Santa Monica Boulevard, turn just north onto Palm Avenue and look him up. (By David Morgan, Los Angeles)
The Comedy Store, 8433 Sunset blvd.
Enter the world famous Comedy Store for an evening of laughs.
The comedy store is a 3 room comedy club, a home to some of the hottest new comedians in the country and a "pit stop" for most of the well known comedians of our times.
And sure enough, well known comedians, such as Richard Pryor, Robin Williams, Roseanne, Whoppy Goldberg and Andy Kaufman, stood on the Comedy Store's stage since it opened in 1972.
Open 7 days, 2 drink minimum, covers ranging from free to $20.
Bourgeois Pig,5931 Franklin Ave
Located on Franklin Ave. across from the Scientology Center (I know, I know), the B. Pig is one of the most fabulous cafe/hangouts on the East Side of Los Angeles. It's decked out in Morroccan style, complete with internet access, a fabulously mellow back room, and strawberry smoothies like you've never had. A must visit.

Royal Hawaiian BBQ, 158 W. Foothill Blvd. , Monrovia, CA
I moved from Hawaii to Los Angeles a year ago. I missed the good food back in the islands of Hawaii. Last weekend, my friend took me to this place and the food is very very good. I tried their bbq short ribs and will go back to try other items. They are located at city of Monrovia.
